7 weeks

Baby's now the size of a blueberry
Baby's brain - both hemispheres! - is growing fast, generating about one hundred new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place.

Symptoms - I started feeling a little nauseous yesterday - but nothing too bad. I found my sea bands from when I was pg with DS and have been wearing them. I could not imagine being as sick as I was with DS and having a LO to take care of. ::knocking on wood:: hopefully this pregnancy continues to be pretty easy.

Weight - -1.5 lbs Still haven't gotten a work out video. I'm such a slacker!

Milestones - I feel like making it to 7 weeks is a milestone! That much closer to 2nd tri

Looking forward to - 1st u/s in 8 days!!

6 weeks

Yesterday marked 6 weeks.

Baby is now the size of a sweatpea.
Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin. Those little hands and feet -- still webbed like paddles -- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as yours) and blood is starting to circulate.

Symptoms - Still no m/s!! Can I be so lucky? I'm tired and just started getting a little congested. Not sure if I'm getting a cold or if it's a symptom. So far this is completely different from when I was pg with M. Perhaps this little one is a girl?

Weight - +2 lbs - but still at 0 since I lost weight in the beginning. I plan on picking up a pregnancy workout video soon and then start back up with stroller strides in March when I'm in the 2nd tri. I would love to go back now but we haven't even told our parents yet and I would have to tell the instructors since I would have to do some modifications. I wouldn't want everyone else to notice and then figure out I'm pregnant.

1st appointment

I had my first appointment on Friday. Nothing too exciting. PIAC, took my weight. Nurse asked me a bunch of family history questions. Saw my midwife and she did a pap and pelvic exam. Said I was about 4 or 5 weeks - according to my chart I was 5 weeks 2 days. My first u/s is in 2 weeks!!

5 weeks

When I was 5 weeks pg with M morning sickness hit hard. So far today I am still feeling great! The only symptom I have is being tired. I almost want to take another pg test just to make sure I didn't imagine the 9 positive ones I took.

Weight - 0

I'm hoping to start working out again soon so I can stay healthy and in shape this time around.

2 days until my first appointment!

4 weeks 1 day

Today I am 4 weeks 1 day.

Symptoms -I still don't have any symptoms - which is fine by me! With M I was sick from 5 weeks - 12 weeks. I'm definitely not looking forward to that part of pregnancy again. Hopefully this time around won't be as bad.

Weight - -2lbs. With M I gained a lot of weight. I'm hoping to not taking "eating for 2" so seriously this time and continue to exercise. I haven't done any exercising yet. I'm waiting to talk to my Dr. at my first appointment. I'm still nursing M so I think that has to do with my weight loss. I haven't been that hungry and need to work on eating more calories (healthy ones that is) so I can keep up with the needs of the baby and M.

Looking forward to - my first appointment is next Friday. I know they don't do much at it but it can't come fast enough. They'll probably have me schedule my 8 week appointment and u/s!

Here we go again

So I'm digging this blog back up. We'll see if I can keep up with 2 blogs now. Mason's blog is followed by friend's and family and I wanted a secret blog.

On Saturday Chris and I found out that I'm pregnant again! We are so excited and a little nervous to have two under two. Mason took 7 cycles to conceive so we didn't think it would happen so soon this time around. I'm still bf'ing Mason and we conceived this little one the first cycle I ovulated! This blog will be the journey of becoming a mom of 2u2. M and this new LO will be 21 months apart!

My breastfeeding journey

The day my son was born he latched right on and loved to suck. I was so happy and thought things were going great. The next day I saw a LC - happened to be the one that taught the bf'ing class we took. She came in shortly after DS was circumcised. She helped latch him on and listened to see if he was swallowing. I was asked if we were supplementing and I told her that we weren't and I didn't want to. I was then told that DS was not swallowing and that we had to supplement. I fought back the tears and told her to give my son whatever he needed. She came back with formula and he gobbled it right up. She told me my nipples looked really sore and to keep him off the breast until she was able to see me again and to pump every 2-3 hours in the meantime. DS was born on a Thursday and she told me to call her on Sunday and I could see her on Monday when my milk came in. I called first thing Sunday morning and waited all day for her to call back. She called back late afternoon and said they were not able to see me until Tuesday. I asked her if I should try to bf and she said to continue keeping him off the breast.

Tuesday finally came and I went back to the hospital. This time I saw a different LC. She helped with DS's latch and after he ate weighed him. I wasn't producing enough milk (from what I was pumping and what they measured after weighing him) so I was told to feed for 20 min on both sides, then supplement and then pump. After doing this for a couple days I was so frustrated. By the time I finished doing all the steps it was almost time to do it all over again. I stopped bf'ing him and decided to EP. I would wake DH up when it was time to feed DS and I would go pump. I still wasn't producing enough and had to supplement with formula. After three weeks I felt like quitting. I was exhausted both mentally and physically. I decided to give bf'ing a try again and luckily he was latching on. I would only pump when I had time and supplement if it looked like he was hungry. I was completely winging it and hoping I was doing it right. With encouragement from DH and a family friend I contacted a private LC and saw her the next day. DS was latching on properly and she gave me a supplement to help my supply. A few days later I was no longer supplementing with formula.

It has now been over two months and bf'ing is going great. I've even been able to freeze a couple bags here and there - which is a huge accomplishment since before I could not even produce enough for DS. I am so glad that DS encouraged me every step of the way and I stuck with it!.
